OEM windshields vs. "others"

I caught a rock a couple of days ago and spoke to the shop that is replacing the windshield about the quality of the glass they are using. She told me that the manufacturer of her glass also makes nissan's glass and there should be no difference in quality. I also asked for the prices of the windshield so I could compare to OEM, Hers is $175 and OEM is ~360@ everythingnissan.com. Should I demand OEM or believe them when they say that the quality is the same?

I'd probably bite the bullit and get the OEM, but I'm not sure.

I'm glad FL has that free windsheild replacement law, where the insurance pays for the new windsheild and you don't pay anything out of pocket.

I highly recommend getting the OEM glass. The off-brands can crack VERY easily, and you might find yourself right back in the same situation all too soon. My original windshield has taken 4 or 5 good licks by rocks and has made some lil stars or chips, but never spidered or cracked.

I've always found aftermarket glass to "pit" alot easier than oem!

I would fork over the money to get oem glass. The generic glass is not as thick and the quality is not that same.
