Need help...don't usually use this forum
Please excuse the posting here and in the 300z section, but it seems this sections gets more use. Usually use tt.net but haven't been able to log on for awhile.
-Can't get to TT.net at work anymore and I need help with setting up my profec B spec II. I just got my rebuild done and just started getting on it some so now it's time for some crude tuning. Quick breakdown of engine and engine management so hopefully someone can give me a starting baseline on my setup.
88mm Weisco pistons
cleavite bearings
Apex'i 555 injectors
Ash spec Eprom
JWT 530 BB trubos
No EGR, PRVR or CC
Profec B spec II boost controller
APex'i AFC II
SIngle K&N intake
Bottom end was completely rebuilt and heads were relatively new from last job and were just refreshed.
Right now these are the setting that I have for the Profec B spec II:
Set = 66%
Gain = 60%
Start boost = 1.00 bar (14.2 psi)
Warning = 1.05 bar (14.9 psi)
Limiter = 0%
I keep it in the LO mode since it isn't set right yet. This setup gives me strong pull with a peak of about 1.08 bar (15.3 psi). The only thing is once you get into the upper rpm range the boost seems to fall off. Ex= will pull hard to 1.08 then fall off to like ~.6 bar (8.5 psi). I haven't really had consistent WOT runs, but will be doing this.
From other forums I heard that when the boost drops off in the upper ranges the GAIN needs to be set higher. So, I'm just lloking for a starting point from which other 300 Z owners use as there setting so I can then tweak it from that point. The whole percentage thing kinda screws me up with the SET and GAIN options. Any help would be greatly appreciated.-
