Had some fun with the sentra today

Hehe, we had an invitational AutoX hosted at our school today. Pretty much, we are tring to get AutoX events hosted at UCF rather than Velencia. A few of us got to run b/c we were the ones to do the paperwork. There were prolly only 12 people there and I got to run at least 15 times . There were even a bunch of spectators from the school. It was hella fun, I think I'm gonna sign up next time (my 3rd time).

Me and my friend Phil were only the people in Novus(sp) class, the rest were invited members. Overal, I did pretty well, the average was around 32sec (1st being 27.6 and 2nd, 29 flat). I ran 31.1 as my best run, so I would say I did pretty good this time around.

Anyway, I need some help here, I got a few problems. First, I was in UNDERSTEER CITY, I did everything I could to balance it out, AGX shocks were max in the back, front was on 1, my Kuhmos were 38 in the front, 41 in the rear, and I have a battery in the back. I realy need something to help me out, I completely understeered off course on my 2nd run.

Another problem I had was my tires. I already know I need new tires, I'm out of tread already (only 10k on my Kuhmos). Anyway, they are 205/40s and there's very little sidewall, I think I may have been going up on the rims in the hard turns even with the high pressure. Do I need more pressure than that or should I jus have a second set of rims/tires (with bigger sidewalls)?

Also, I'm having maneuvering problems with the wheel, there were 4 90* corners in the run. I am having trouble turning the wheel fast enough, 1 hand or 2, the wheel is just too stiff, I mean, it's hardly powersteering. I know (or at least I think) my power steering fluid is fine, but when I make a 90* right, then a 90* left, I jus am not able to turn the wheel around that fast.
Lastly, my axle is shot. I repaired the CV boot a little while ago, however, the joint is now shot. Nothing but pop, pop, pop. I know I shouldn't have run, but I couldn't resist. Anyway, throughout every run, Im getting POP, bang, crackle, grind, everything, it sounds like more than just the axle, maybe my mounts, maybe the tranny, iono, I'm gonna replace my axle and see if that fixes some things, if not all.

For the understeer, you may just be having the same problem I had when I started Auto-X, which is driving too damn fast. Try braking a little earlier and setting the car up better for the turn. Most new people want to charge into the corner, but wind up understeering and coming out slow. Remember, in slow, out fast.

If that's not the case, you'll have to play around with your tire pressure more. Try putting some chalk or white shoe polish on your sidewalls, it will show how much your tires are leaning in the corners, and you can adjust accordingly.
