During a rain storm, some tree seeds landed on top of my car and I was not able to remove them before whatever chemicals were in the seeds apparently reacted with the clear coat on my black '02 Sentra SE-R. I tried removing the blemishes with a clay bar, but that didn't help. I then took it to a detailer who said the clear coat had been damaged a bit, but he produced some kind of liquid compound and was able to wipe out one of the blemishes. Anyway, he wanted $650 to completely remove the blemishes, treat and apply a sealant to the paint.

All I want to do is remove the blemishes. Is anyone aware of some kind of compound that does this?

This happened to me as well. I was told a clay bar would do it....have you tried an abrasive paint cleaner? That stuff is supposed to clean pitch and all that from paint including oxidation. Try it out. It worked wonders on my old b12.
