87 pulsar: whats this go to?

Ok...like the subject says, 1987 Pulsar....I was bored and dinging around and looked under my dash and for the first time I noticed I got wires that aren't plugged into anything. My thought is it has something to do with the lights dinging when on and door is open or something like that cause my car doesn't do that and there is no black box under the dash....if anyone knows what the black connector hanging there goes to lemme know, thanx

I've had loose connectors like that in all of my vehicles. I've plugged them in wherever they can fit, but ultimately, they usually turn out to be useless if they're loose like that.

It's like having a fuse box with a "fog lamp" space even if you don't have fog lamps. A lot of the stuff is premanufactued to accomodate a slew of various options that your car might not even have, though others of the same model might.

Tomorrow, when it's light out, I might take a few pics of the loose connectors I have. One of them I know is a lead for power windows (which I don't have).

the only option that my car doens' have is cruise control....which i dont even know if they had that option but my power mirrors and cigarette lighter dont work...both of which are on the same fuse..fuse is good. so i was wondering if this connector had anything to do with it. also my buzzer doesn't work and i've heard its on same circuit as lighter so i'm just thinking they are all tied in to something not right.

Your mirrors and cig. lighter are probably on your ACC fuse. This will also carry other accessories that are non-vitals, such as a sunroof and maybe the clock. Most likely your car has plugs for options your make/model doesn't even carry when fully loaded. After all, the engines are usually dumped into a lot of different vehicles.

My car is a manual trans, and it has a plug for cruise control. I don't have power windows or doors, yet have a plug for both. There's a sunroof plug and the car's a T-top. Car alarm... remote start... more plugs without the appropriate socket to put them in. All these orphaned plugs are just hanging around under my hood, neatly taped to another cable.

Also, I don't think your buzzer is on your ACC fuse. You've probably got a bum buzzer, as it's usually coupled with your clock/audio/internal lights or sometimes even on its own fuse. I'd have to see an owners/haynes manual to tell you.

I know that on my Nissan the wires plug into the cig. lighter from behind, and they're very easy to get at once I remove a bit of molding. You might want to make sure all that's connected. If your cig lighter and mirrors used to work, and it's only your cig. lighter and mirrors that no longer work, it's most likely a loose wire somewhere, as the connectors usually snap together and are absurdly difficult to disconnect.

well i just got the car like 3 or 4months ago and mirrors and cig lighter have never worked. all i know is they are on same circuit so something somewhere isn't hooked right. and i've looked at wiring diagrams and they dont show the buzzer on them. And with the pulsar there is no wiring for stuff like sunroof and cruise control...the fuse box has holes for it but thats all. and there is no clock, this is an 87 pulsar

Well, "have fun digging through the wiring" is about all I can tell 'ya then. As for the connector, it's most likely nothing at all. Go to a Nissan dealer, though, as I'm obviously no expert (I don't even know the "type" of engine I have).

well...first of all my nissan dealer is a little unorganized right now, they tore down the building to build a new one that is big enough to get the new Titan and Armada through the doors. I've been getting a few parts but I'm not going to disturb them with this trivial of a thing. If i still dont know what it is by the time they have the new place done then i'll ask
