$250 to paint bumper?

My bumper cover was ripped off this weekend and no one left a note so I have to get a new bumper cover. My dealership however wants $250 to paint the stupid thing. Does that seem a little high? Would I be better off trying to go to an auto body shop and get it painted? My car color is blackout which I would think is a lot easier to match than one of their other colors like the blue or sunburst or something like that. What do you guys think I should try? I have an 04 1.8 by the way.

I scraped the bumper on a fence post on the altima, and they wanted $200 to paint and blend everything. Sounds like it could be reasonable.

warranties up and its comin out of your pocket? the stealership is probably THE MOST expensive quote you'll find in your area. im not sure, but it sounds high to me.
i'd check out a reputable shop that specializes in painting cars. seeing as how you have a common color (black, you said?)
maybe you could arrange to have it sprayed at the same time as another job witht the same color and save a little bit of money on the side. .02. good luck. hope you don't have to specnd $250

Well it is coming out of my pocket since I was hit and the person didn't leave a note, and it would cost me more in the end to claim it on insurance. I am gonna try a few auto body places to see what they charge. I was thinking about going to Maaco, I know you get what you pay for, but it is only a bumper not like the actual part of my car which can't be replaced down the line. I have an 04 in blackout, which should be an easy color to match I think.

They might not have your bumper. You might need to go to the dealer.
