extreme part prices

Are European nissan dealers nuts??
I asked my Nissan dealer for some big end bearing and main bearing shels. They told me 200$ for the big end shels and 190$ for the main shels. Then I was at a store that sels FederalMogul shels. The guy told me that the price was 30$ for the big end shels but they not avaible any more. Any ideas where to get some normal priced shels??

the older your car is, the price of parts seems to increase exponentially. with imports this is much more noticable. whenever I need a part that doesnt 'need' to come from nissan, i go to bumper to bumper... its usually way less, but often the parts arent available at the branch and they make you pay 5 or 10 bucks freight. i'd say try bumper to bumper... if they have it where you live.

Crankshaft bearings aren't that expensive. I can get crankshaft bearings for about $13 per bearing, or they list a "bearing set" for about $36. Connecting rod bearings run about $4 a bearing. These are US dollars. You'd also want to know what size/grade you need before ordering.

Hope this helps.
