Hey people, i know this has probably been asked a thousand times, but whats a good sounding muffler for the 1.6 Ga16de? I'm on a pretty tight budget and the cheaper the better, although i dont want something thats gonna blow out (change sound later on) or thats gonna sound crappy from the start. I know alot of you reccoment stromung, but around 100-150 is the most i can afford. Thanks
Yes it has been asked a thousand times and it is almost impossible to answer. There are hundreds of different mufflers, from cheap ass eBay crap for $50 to high quality mufflers like Apexi for around $250 so asking this question is pretty broad. I would basically go w/ the old saying, 'you get what you pay for.'
Additionally, a muffler alone will do next to nothing for your car other than make it louder. You are looking at only 0-2hp gain from just a muffler on your car. Save your money for a cat-back system. Check out www.sentra.net and read Kojima's garage, there is a huge amount of info.
DAMN ZENO.. why you gotta go off on me. First of all, I didn't ask about freakin horsepower. I like to be able to hear my exhaust. Second, I'm not gonna spend over 150 on a freakin exhaust, and I was hopin some people out there would tell me what they have. Third, i've read Kojima's garage and it has some helpful information, I was basically just looking for a medium priced brand that someone could give me some good feedback on. The 1.6 is a great motor but i'm not gonna throw 5 grand into the motor just to push 200 hp.
Whoa there killer, at no point was I 'going off' on you. If all you want is to make your car sound like a fart can, go to eBay, waste your money, pick up a Type-R badge to go along w/ your 'performance muffler', and go hang out w/ the Civic posers.
damn you guys need to get laid.And do your own searching for muffler.You arent going to get a good muffler in any aspect for under a 100$hell you are going to have spend around 200$ more to sound good. i dont see why people want a good sound without the power to back it though.maybe you should get a honda.it mnight suit you better and they have lots of great cheap exhausts that you rev high to let people know that you are ready to smoke anything that get in your path.

You're going to have a hard time getting a good muffler for less than $150. Car parts are very expensive, and quality car parts are even more expensive. If you're planning on getting a GA in the 200WHP range, you're going to need a lot of money... more than $5,000 easily.
Cars are very, very expensive to modify, and a lot of money is needed for a very small gain.
Thank you Samo, I appreciate you not jumping on my back bout this whole thing. I know i'm sure it gets irritating to alot of you who read this board alot, but i was just looking for some ideas. I know car parts are expensive, and theres no use in putting 5 g's in my car when my neighbors trans-am is gonna eat my ass. Do i want my car faster? HELL YEAH. But if i wanted to outrun a V-8, i would have bought one. For some of you that told me to get a job. I HAVE ONE, and its pretty hard to make alot of money when your a FULL TIME COLLEGE STUDENT. So for all you haters out there that keep tellin me to go hang out with some Hondas, can stick it up your ass. Maybe you should be the ones hangin with the hondas, cause you dont appreciate your fellow Nissan drivers.
