Needing some input for my project

Hey I have been researching like mad to deside what engine I should put in my S14. Of coarse the first thought was a sr20det and I would stroke that with the Jun stroker kit to be an sr22det. Then I did some more research and Im not sure what engine I should go with. The sr20det, rb20det, rb25det or the vg30dett. My biggest consern isnt price but it does still have to be reasonible. I am building this car to compete with a BPU ++ 6 speed supra that my friend just got. As of now I'm thinking of going with the rb25det and trying to get up around 400+hp. I am just curious if you have any input on what I should do or maybe a good shop of importing the engines cause I would like to get the engine for a decent price so I can put more aftermarket mods into it and spank the Supra. Cause we all know that Nismo is the real power house. Thanks

go with the sr20det. it's much lighter than the rb25 and with the proper turbo and tuning, more than make up for the other 0.5 litres. i'm sure an sr20 is more than capable of pushing 400+hp. in fact there's an s15 in perth pushing 800+hp by speedworks.
just out of curiosity, doesn't the s14 already come with the sr20? why would u need to change the engine?

to answer gtr33's question. No, the american s14 came with the ka24de engine(the truck engine). It produces 155hp and 160lb-ft of torque. I have seen 240's with modded ka24de engines pushing over 400hp. However the engine is not the best choice for that car. I agree with gtr33, go with the sr20det, it is light, powerful, and there are tons of aftermarket stuff for it.

def. go w/the sr....to get a rb series under the hood there is some custom welding involved. but i do know a place u can get a r33 front clip for about $5500-$6000. that includes shipping. good luck with whatever u do
