Silverstar Ultra Headlights

Figured I'd report on my experience with Sylvania Silverstar Ultra headlights, as they are relatively new and I haven't seen any prior discussion.

With Sylvania's aggressive marketing campaign, I gave these $50 bulbs a shot to try for better illumination and safer night driving. Bottom line, save your $$.

The difference from the OEM bulbs on my '05 Pathfinder is barely perceptible, even in my before & after pics. The light is very slightly whiter, but does not appear to increase total light output or field of vision. Depending on how long these bulbs last, I will likely go back to the standard OEM headlight for simple, long term reliability.

Interesting, made a huge difference on my '05 Frontier, but I too wonder how long they will last. Been running mine for about two or three months now. When I got them they were cheaper than the regular Silverstars at $30.00 a set. Z

I've only had bad experiences with Silverstars...(lasting only a year)

Been using Cool Blues for over a year now ever since I converted to 9007s in my Maxima. I've used CBs in my other cars w/out problems.
I have heard of people having problems with CBs but I never saw it. They are cheaper too.

IMO, different types of bulbs won't really 'improve' the output or field of vision...they just change the color somewhat so it gives a placebo effect. OEMs have a bit more of a yellow-ish look to them.
Best way to improve output is to upgrade to a custom HID projector setup. (in my opinion)

No offense but I wouldn't put it past Dodge to skimp out on quality parts.

The only benifits Ive ever seen from silverstars is if your running clear corners or something that requires an amber bulb and you want a bulb that doesnt appear to be amber when unlit. Aside from that save your $ IMO. There are equivelants out there for less.
