Rios, are you in Ontario? If so, it doesn't matter what engine you have, so long as it meets the emissions standards for the year your car was built. If you are doing a swap, make sure you can meet the standards. Check Drive Clean for more info. If you aren't in Ontario, I have no idea how it works.
Also, are you just getting the motor or a whole car? If it's the whole car, look at this page before you do anything else.

I'm still not clear. Reading it the first time, my understanding is that any vehicle purchased outside of canada and the US can not be imported. What's all the other stuff in the second paragraph?
jay, i believ its saying that the vehicule has to be made canada smog legal from the factory, so it has to be ordered aslegal here, thats the only way to get a new car here, i gather

The situation they're referring to in that paragraph is if you were to purchase a car overseas that meets all CRASH standards here. The vehicle would have to be certified through carsh testing. Therefore, the only overseas cars you could import are those built for a global market and are the same basic vehicle in all markets. Volvo comes to mind here. Primeras are Europe only and have not been crashed here and won't be eligible. If that makes no sense it's late and I'm tired.
so in short, you can't really import anything that isn't made in Canada or the US. I gather cars such as skylines, FTOs, GTiRs, Silvias are definitely out of the question!
