Occasionally the shift sticks in park.

I have a 1993 Nissan Altima/Stanza Gxe

Occasionally the shift sticks in park.

My normal mechanic temporally disabled the part that prevents the car from shifting without having to push the break down. To see if that was the problem. It was not. It still sticks. Yes, I still push the break, to shift gears.

This did eliminate that it was the Stop Light(top break light), break light switch or the solenoid.

That leaves any of the following
Key not made correctly*
Shift Interlock (By the ignition)
Electrical Wiring
Need Rear Break Pads
Some jammed in the button of the shifter.
or something else.

*This reason I think about trying this method first. I do not think they keys were made correctly. The previous owner lost his original keys. Yes, the car had a valid Vin and yes he was the legal owner of the car. I ran a vin check.

Side comment about the Stop light (Top Break Light above the trunk)
I think that the most ridiculous thing is when the Stoplight Malfunctions or burns out. You can not shift the car. Which I believe could be dangerous.
