I came a cross a 200SX for sale and it has an engine in it that I am not familiar with. I think it is a 2.2L Dual Coil setup... Can anydone tell me anything about this engine?
ive heard of twin spark... maybe its the same thing. I thought the twin spark was the CA20 though. Havent heard of s 2.2 litre Nissan engine...
If it is the twin spark motor I havent heard anything good about it
A bit of research suggests that it was to meet EPA standards. One plug for compression stroke and one for the exhaust stroke to burn up any extra fuel. Research also tends to agree with bridrive - shit of an engine apparently. Was also found in the Pintara gli (the T and the TRX pintaras had a FWD verison of the KA24de)
They weren't that bad in their time 108 hp, 2litre. More or less what everybody else had at the time. They were in the S12 200SX thru 88.Both plugs fired at just a few degrees difference up until about 3000rpm then just the plug by the intake fired. If you had it wired wrong so that the plug by the exhaust valve only fired you lost a lot of power, but it still ran.One plug fired before tdc the other was after, but still on the power stroke. Raced one circle track for 3yrs against some tough competition, got 11 wins.
