What direction does the motor mount go?

92 Sentra 1.6L Manual Trans

I took the motor mount off and I need to know what direction the plastic insulator goes. Part of the insulator, the soft part "free floats" inside the harder plastic piece. Does the end that has the "floating" piece go to the top or the bottom?
Also I was check it out to see if it was damaged at all. What should I be looking for?
