Just a bit of info for those who are planning to buy a CAI.
The Intake Air Temperature Sensor (IAT) on the pre-98 GA16DE's is located on the upper intake pipe near the throttle body on the underside. On 98 and 99's, the IAT comes out of the d/s fenderwell and attaches to the intake near the battery. If you buy a CAI for an opposite IAT postion (i.e. 97 CAI for a 98 ga) than you will have to plug the old hole(s) with something like electric tape and drill a new hole for the sensor. The older ga's have a single hole with two smaller mounting holes for a screw-in type sensor. The last two years of ga's have a single hole for a rubber-grometted sensor.
Hope this info is helpful for those of you who havent gone 'cold' yet.

You don't necessaryly have to re-drill the hole. When I had my HS CAI (meant for a 98 sensor) I simply used a dremel to cut off the mounting tabs and smooth it out so that it slipped into the grommet I put into the hole.
Ok, so I've had a HS CAI for over a year now, and my check engine light has been on ever since, due to the fact that when I installed the CAI it didnt have a hole for the IAT sensor... at least I think thats what its called, its the one on the fender behind the battery and right now its just hanging.... Did I get the wrong kit sent to me from HS? Was there supposed to be a pre- drilled hole for this sensor to be placed into the piping?

Gotta check that upper pipe. It should be on the underside, kinda facing the bottom side of the firewall. Thats where the hole is that the 95-97 1.6's use for the IAT. You should cover the old hole and make a new one (if you have a PR CAI like me) as near the IAT for 98-99's as possible. Wes is right (usually is, aint that a trip?), you may not have to re-drill, just use a dremel. Dunno if that would trip a sensor. Than again, your obviously getting much cooler air into the TB and the sensor is reading engine bay temp, so that could be a possibility.
Let us know when you find out.

I've had mine hanging out, but right next to the pipe, and no lights have been on. For some odd reason my CAI did NOT have a hole for the IAT sensor ('96 nissan 200sx se, bought the CAI used). I hope my car will run better if I put it where it belongs.. I still have to drill a hole though.

Car will run the same. I have my IATS as close to my filter as possible on the turbo car.
