oxidation in spark plug tube

like the title says i have bad oxidation in spark plug tube #1 that goes the length of the tube(from the top to the bootom by the spark plug) and some at the top of tube #3
anyone have this problem and how to fix

i went to the junkyard to see how hard to remove the tube to clean or replace and looks like i need to take the head off

anyone have any tips, want to polish it out but not sure how without getting stuff in the engine(when i take out the plug). also doesn't look like rust, has more of a white color but near the bottome starts turning more brown

thanx

They really shouldn't rust... If your compelled you can try and clean it with a wire brush, leave a junk spark plug installed and then use a vacuum with an attachment to clean it out. hen you can lightly coat it with some penetrating oil and that should take care of it. I would assume those tubes have some copper or brass content to keep them from rusting but I am totally guessing on this.

mine had the same problem on C #1 but last month i stole a test tube brush (wire) and i did what wes said. The rust never got any worse from when i bought the car to now so i would imagine it to not be that big of a problem.
Btw a powerfull magnet and a pair of needle nose plyers also help to get the metal out

i could have sworn they were aluminum... anyways, you probably got moisture in the tube at some point and the heat from the engine cooked it. as long as its not oily, you should be okay.

i never tried the magnet idea while i was cleaning them but when i was changing plugs i found that when inserted the magnet stuck to the sides of the tube. so i figured mabye it will work
