Auto to Manual Swap w/ NX1600 guage cluster

I was wondering if this has been done before, and what I would need to get this going? (Obviously the donor car)

What ECU will I need (One from a sentra or one from the NX?), and suggestions?

I'm sorry if this has been posted before, but I searched and came up empty.

Thanks.

you will need the manual ECU for the year of your car. 92 auto needs a 92 manual and so forth.

You need to change the Air regulator under the plenum also for the manual unit. call Mossy for the part and tell him you are swapping the auto to a manual. make sure you tell him the Manual part. Your idle will be at 2-3000 rpm all the time if you don't change it out. Some hints from a Swapper club member.

Welcome to the swap club.

ok. That helps a lot. thank you.

But, along with that, I want to have the digital cluster for the NX1600 in there. I am not sure if the ECU for a manual 99 will work with it. I know that anything (with enough money) can be done. However, I don't have that kind of money and I want to know what I'm getting myself into before I start.

No, an ECU from a 99 will definitely not work. You have a OBD1 car and the 99 ECU is from an OBD2 car.

Get an ECU from a a 91-94 NX or Sentra, w/ manual trans. The ECU between a digital dash NX and analog dash are no different, the cluster is the difference.

ok. some confusion. I have a 99 sentra (GA16), and I want the digital dash from the NX. So, I still have to go with the NX ECU, or the sentra's?

Wow, you really fooled me with your unclear explaination of what you were trying to do. Now, it is so much clearer. The ECU and cluster don't care who's who. So, if you have a 1999, and you want a digital dash out of an early 90's NX, you are really in for some work. If you are doing the auto to manual swap, get a 1999 ECU out of a manual car. An NX ECU wouldn't work in your car anyway.

You are going to have to completely rewire your wiring behind the cluster to get the NX digital dash to work. Good luck, you'll need it

ok, well, if it be that much work, it's not worth it to me just to have an 'interesting looking' dash. Thanks again for the responses. Greatly helps.
