We ran Project 200SX 1.6 at 15 degrees for a long time with no problems what so ever.. I believe we dyno'd at as high as 17 with no adverse effects..

Maybe somewhat off topic but not too far.

Anyone know of anyplace here in So. Kal where we can get some 92+ octane fuel? Im stuck on 91 as well and havent had any adverse affects with my timing. What about octane booster?

If you haven't had any problems with 91, and others haven't either, why do you want to get higher octane fuel. Want to waste more money?

It was a simple question. If you dont know ... your bad. Last time I checked it wouldn't hurt to put a better octane fuel in your tank, and since I do have the money it wouldn't be a waste.

Just wanted to know your reasons for using higher octane. Can you name some(just curious)?

A higher octane burns cleaner and is better for spark and ignition. Am I wrong?

Not sure if you're wrong, since it seems to make sense. All I know is it burns slower, making it good for advanced timing because, since the spark occurs sooner in the compression stroke, it has more time to ignite the fuel, and the fuel has enough time to burn completely. Still though, using extra high octane doesn't seem like a benefit unless you plan on advancing the timing even further.

Ok, well back to my original question. Anyone know of a spot that even still sells the 92+? Dont think there is anyplace around, but it would be nice to know of somewhere for those nights when you do want the good sh!t in your tank.

Here in Tucson there is one Unical 76 station that carries 100 octane "race" fuel. It's up around $4.50/gal though. As for SoCal, can't help ya, but maybe look at some of the same stations... or just snag some C16 from a friend who's turbo!

excuse my ignornace..but why do most western states have up to only 93 octane? here you can get up to 95..and 95 is $1.69 a gallon..93 is about $1.50. but only one station around here carries 95 that i know of.

i think it's emissions and certain chemicals that can't be used in this part of the region and certain chemicals that have to be used... MTBE for one.

ok that kinda makes sense..but i thought a higher octane was cleaner burning..maybe with the chemicals u can/cannot have affect the octane rating.

i'm no expert in this area but i don't think higher octane neccesarily means less emissions. but i think the chemicals they put in to help reduce emssions also reduce that scale they use in the fuel... i'm just speculating on that...

Yeah, I think it has something to do with the MTBE as well. Thats why the octane rating lowered. Something like that sh!t was leaking into the ground and under ground water sources. Not too good for the human population.

And Damn! I wish I lived on the east coast to get some cheap ass gas. I'll just have to keep my eyes open.
