Lately when my '98 GXE gets started in the cold it makes this quick noise that sounds like its coming from the driver side of the engine. Its not a belt either.

Is this a common thing with these cars? Anyone have any idea what it is?

I get some nasty squealing when I first start the car when it's really cold. Not sure what it is. It did it last winter too and I thought it was the cheap filters I was using letting the oil drain overnight, but now I'm using Nissan OEM so that can't be it. It always goes away quickly and hasn't seemed to leave any lasting damage as my car runs like a top at 130k. Granted it's got a few leaks, the clutch is an on/off switch, and the exhaust is shot to hell (my own fault) but that's why I'm looking for a new car in a month. Too bad the thing runs so good. Makes it hard to part with...

im getting a weird clank clank kinda sounds like the rod to hold the hood up is banging around by the driver side fender or suptin, but i can never find what the hell it is
