hmm Engine Shampoo ... boo Urns

okay here is the deal .. at work .( I work at a Professional Detailing shop ) I did an engine shampoo . i used pressure washer .. so no water pools anywhere ... so yah my engine is super clean .. right .. but the next day ..

The Service Engine Soon light comes on ... I'm at around 84,000kms right now...

98 200SX SE .. Automatic ...
went to mechanic and he checked my emissions and its running fine ... not running rich or lean ...

also the engine still runs the same? ..... no really noticable things .. cept for my dead rear shocks ... but thats old news ... well the light has been on for over 1 month now ... so i'm not sure what to do about it ...

I know i could just go to a dealership and have them diagnose it .. but I'm just wondering if there are any other options

Autozone will clear the light for you, and check your codes. Or you can check it yourself. Check out Sentra.net on how to do that. You can read your ECU and clear it if it is something minor. You may also want to consider picking up a Haynes manual.

Hey,
Are you sure any water didn't get down by the plugs. I know the wires have a rubber boot that covers the hole, but if water gets down there it will trigger a light.

Seth
