I have a 1997 Sentra, just wondering if anyone has a real picture of what this part looks like, or where i could look it up i cant find it anywhere online. i know it's attached to the charcoal canister and i replaced a valve that was attached to the canister but i still get the code P0443, granted the part was from the junkyard so it might have been that, but i just want to be sure of what the part looks like, so if i replaced the wrong part i can get the right one. any info would be great(description, picture, anything) Thank You
I know in my car there is another valve in the rear drivers side under the rear bumper. I had the same error, I replaced the valve, and nothing. I reset ecu, and waited a couple weeks but smog was comming up soon. Ended up being one of my vacum lines crossed with another.
Have you messed with your vac lines latley? Think there could be any leaks in any of them?
Try replacing the valve in the rear, if that doesnt work check your lines. There is a diagram of the lines on your hood.
Curious...did you by any chance actually test the valve to see if it
was working before installing it? If not, try taking the unit out and
test directly off the battery. You should hear clicking if the unit is
good. Mine ceased to work about 3 months ago. Took the unit out,
sprayed WD40 down the vacuum port and gave the unit (cylindrical
part) a few good taps with the end of a wrench. Then activated
the unit, using 2 wires off my battery, to loosen any debris that
had built up. Once everything started moving well again, sprayed
electrical cleaner inside port to clean out any rermaining foreign
material. Once that was done, I then sprayed WD40 inside unit for
the final time and reinstalled. Been 3 months now going on 4 and
haven't see MR. Orange light since.

no i didnt test the unit i will try that out, and i will try what you did with the wd-40, do you think carb cleaner would work or should i use, what you did, thank you very much for all of your help
i have the same problem too on my 98 200sx. the valve is is black and is held by a clip right below ur intake tube. The clip is mounted on the side. Its actually near the tranny. There are four hoses connect to it. Its a real pain to get to. I had to take off the whole intake tube and box to get to it. I have a part number at home if you still need it. The part is around $80 bucks at the dealer. I changed mine but the check engine light still turns on. So i guessing it must be the valve in the back. Good luck.

Carb cleaner would work also, I just used electical cleaner
cause it dries faster.

well now i tried the wd-40 and electrical cleaner and nothing, i think the solenoid is bad, so i bought a new one at the dealer but still the check engine light is on and i can only think of two more problems, the code is p0443, or when you reset the ECM the code is 8 long 7 short which is the same as the p0443 it's the evap canister purge volume control solenoid valve which i replaced so im thinking it's either the canister itself, or there's a leak in one of my vacuum lines, but i dont no how to check the vacuum lines, i no people talk about smoking the lines but i'm not sure how to do that, so if anyone can help, i would be very grateful. thank you
I thought carb cleaner left a residue... that's why there's electrical cleaners. I could be wrong. Just making sure
Ok, I'll try to clarify things a bit. The part that I cleaned out
on the purge valve has a valve/plunger that opens and closes
inside vacuum port, sort of the same principle as the IAC
(Idle Air Control) unit. Over time, gum/varnish can build up and
cause this valve/plunger to stick. In actuallity, your cleaning the
mechanical part of the purge valve. Now, about using carb cleaner
on "electrical" components...BIG no, no. It isn't so much as the
possibly leaving a residue but more that it can eat away at materials
sensitive to caustic cleaners. Give one example; The alternator.
Windings are coated with a thin film of insulation. Spray carb cleaner
on those babies....bye, bye Alt. Hope I was of some help.

yes, thank you but the thread a posted before yours just stated that i tried cleaning it but i couldnt get the valve to move, because i think the solenoid was spent, so i bought a new one but the check engine light is still on stating the same problem that i just fixed, check out the thread and let me know what you think, thanks
everyone, thanks for your help, i found out what was wrong, the haynes manual states for reseting the mil you have to do the process once, but i red in another thread to do it twice, so i did it twice and now no mil light, thanks again for all of the help, take care. peace

Thats too funny...your post on your findings of the valve weren't
there when I started writting my response to your cleaner question.
Well, good you found what you did.
