OK boys and possibly girls i have another question for you.
Go out side and look at your 200sx and or sentra and look at the (stock) airbox.
look at the bottom of the box and the tubing that leads from the box there are 2 holes in the tube. one that goes behind the light and another that goes down to a gigantic black box.
the box has absolutely no holes in it so basicly there is no air being sucked in by the box. does the box serve any purpose whatsoever?

lol mine was bolted on there good took me a good hour to get the damn thing off i figure im gonna get a CAI in a month or so so might as well try the ghetto airbox mod or just play w/ it and see how much "power"(if you could call it that) i can get out of it lol
this "black box" in the wheel well is a resonator, it silences to intake. you can just pull that black "hose" of the intake off. some say it increases hp some say it dosent, my but dyno said it added alittle pep and i nice low grumble

i took that waste of nissan's$$$ out and tossed it in the trash i kept the trbing though imma prolly buy some more plastic tubing and duct tape
mabye i can get some more pep outa it or obnoxiously loud induction without going all out and zip-tieing the filter to the top of the box lol

I think on NPM or sentra.net it said 1.5 HP with the ghetto airbox mod. I'm almost positive it was one of those 2 sites.

i don't really understand what you just said lol but there really isn't any difference between just taking the restricter hose off and taking the entire half of the air box off (other than having poorer filtration with the getto air box) and it sounds much nicer with just the restrictor gone (nice and mellow) not ricy

oh i see............i would hate for my car to sound bad i dont care what i was buying. i got a wai from ebay (22 bucks ) and i miss the low volume grumble from the air box. accually im putting it back on i will be selling it in the next 4 months

??? my air box was quiet and installling the WAI gave me the low growl that you are talking about. I have a K&N filter on mine as well maybe that makes somewhat of a differnence. Also if that low grumble is what your looking for a CAI will lose a bit of the noise as well because the filter will be father away from you.

no i took the restrictor off so it gave me a (low volume) grumble. and because my wai is alot louder i find i have less mpg (i like to hear it )

My WAI didn't affect my gas that much...very little if any. Like I said, maybe since I had a K&N filter it gave me the low grumble. It is defentally louder, but I can't go back stock after noticing how much of a differnce it made (first mod to my car)
