overheated
I have a 93 Sentra 1.6 automatic with 138k (83k when I bought it). No major problems except steering rack alternator and oil pan cap. Recently my water pump went out and I went for at least 100 miles with half gallon of coolant missing. After I replaced the water pump and a tune up it looks ok, but I don't know what to expect in the future.
Questions:
1.Is the water pump able to maintain coolant in the top of the engine if coolant is missing in the radiator ?
2.What are other signs of blown head gasket, except fluids contamination ?
3.Can you damage a head gasket by overheating it and the damage to occur lately (after a month, a year, etc)
4.For a 93 engine, what is the gasket made of ?
