How to replace a 93 nissan nx 1600 fuel pump

Greetings ,
Can you please tell me how to replace a 93 nissan nx 1600 fuel pump? I have went to auto zone and western auto looking for an instruction book but I could not find one. Any information would be helpful. The problem is when my sister fills up her gas tank and gas leaks from the bottom of the car. She spoke to a friend who had the same problem and the friend's problem was solved by replacing the fuel pump. But inorder for the fuel pump to be replaced she had to have someone remove the fuel tank first. PLEASE HELP. I would like to know how to change the fuel pump withoout blowing myself up and what tools I will need.

Thank you,

Chris

Not exactly sure about the NX, but on a lot of cars there is an access hole under the rear seats or at least in the floor directly above the tank. That should give you access to the intank pump.

You shouldn't need any special tools.

I haven't had to deal with that personally though, my pump is an inline.

The FSM and Haynes guides are available on line for down load - try searching here for FSM or on Google for Nissan Sentra FSM. Note that the directions will be more or less the same for the NX and the sentra - the only difference might be in the removal of the back seat to get at the access point.

I was reading this post. It may provide helpful info:

Not sure the difference between an NX and a Sentra. But, this guy has a good how to for a Sentra fuel pump replacement:

I have heard it is a good idea to remove as much fuel from the tank as possible before replacement. If mine goes, I will probably use an OEM one. If you use aftermarket parts, you may need to make some accommodations to make it work.
