I recently change the oil pressure switch (OPS) on my GA16DE, and thought I would write a quick How-To on it. I changed the OPS while I was changing the oil, thus the Oil Filter was off during the procedure. There might be enough clearance to change the OPS with the oil filter on, but I'm not 100% sure. Might as well change the oil while you have the car jacked up. Anyway on to the write up...
To swap the OPS you will need:
- New OPS. I got mine from Kragen, and AutoZone carries them also. And of course, you can get them from a Nissan dealership.
- A 26mm or 1-1/16" Deep Socket. Both of them fit the OPS, just make sure you have a deep one. I had to get the Standard size because Kragen didnt carry the 26mm deep socket.
- Teflon tape

Instructions:
1. Jack the car up on stands or on ramps
2. Drain oil in suitable pan
3. Remove oil filter
4. Locate OPS, near the oil filter
5. Disconnect electrical connector on OPS
6. Remove bracket located near the OPS, held on by two 14mm bolts. Its a support bracket connecting the Power Steering unit and Intake Manifold. You will need to remove it to fit the deep socket over the OPS
7. Remove OPS
8. Wrap the threads on the new OPS with Teflon tape. I did about three layers of tape on the threads
7. Install new OPS
8. Connect electrical to OPS
9. Mount support bracket
10. Install new oil filter
11. Fill engine with fresh oil
12. Start it up, check for leaks
It takes about 15-30 mins to change the oil and OPS. On a previous attempt to change the OPS I did not have a 1-1/16" or 26mm Deep Socket, and could not get enough leverage to budge the OPS with an adjustable wrench. Having the correct socket was a real time saver.
Sorry about the lack of pics, I need to get under the car this week to degrease the oil pan, I'll snap some pics then. Thats about it, hope this helps.....
