I installed a Weapon R header on my SE today...

The Weapon R header looks great and the installation wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I was hesitant to purchase this brand because of inconclusive research but I found one on eBay for half of what I had priced them at several retailers locally and online.

To my surprise everything lined up well. The recirculator tube ( not sure of the actual part name) that came with the header was 1 1/2 inches too long on the header end. I had to cut it down .The hardest part of the job was getting the rusty bolts on the back part of the pipe loose. I ended up drilling them out.

I did notice a BIG - and I mean BIG difference in performance. My little GA16DE didn't feel like it was being held back as much. . I will probably notice an even bigger difference once I get the exaust finished.

7 hours total time for this job.
Header $215 shipped from Cali to The Ville.

Peace.

Does it have any sort of protective coating to keep it from rusting?

If not, won't take too long for it to look like crap.

If so, it sounds like a cost effective alternative to hot shot. Not everyone has $400 to throw at their car.

I was looking into the Weapon R header before I got a great deal on a HotShot.

If it is coated, I think it's a great deal.
I've been trying to get one of the B14 guys to give it a test for a few months now.

Congrats on the new header...any chance we could get some pics?

make sure since there is now no heat sheild between the header and the alternator like there was with the stock exhuast manifold. that you not going to over heat your alternator. I put some heat wrap on my header just to play it safe. It a good idea beacause it a actually make a difference in under the hood temp and since the hot gases are contain with the header it air flow better and good make a little more power although i could tell. BUT it can cause your header to rust out quicker then normal.

thats what i thought, it maybe a nice alternative for those low cost people, but the quality isn't there like in a hotshot.. you still have to modifye it slightly which is a sign of crap.. it iwll provide gains because is the same setup as a hotshot, but prollynot as much as the HS....

My Hotshot is nothing special.
Sure, it fit pretty good...the EGR was a bitch to get on.
Though it is a Hotshot, and it is the best for our cars, that's still not saying much.
When compared to other manufactures (Like DC, AEBS, Greddy) they don't seem all that great when it comes to fit/finish IMHO.

There was a bunch of rough metal burrs inside my Hotshot when I got it.
A little work with the Dremil fixed that issue though.

I would like to hear more about the Weapon R and see some pics of it installed.

Most cost about the same as the Hotshot does for our car. Some more, some less...all of them are better quality IMO.

Thought you were just talking in another thread about going turbo? Why would you buy a header if you plan to go turbo?

Hotshot makes the best headers for our cars.. Hard to compare it to GReddy or DC Sports ( now owned by AEM ) when they don't make them.

Last I checked AEBS doesn't make a GA16 header.

You can pick up a new HS header for the 1.6 for around $300... not many GReddy honda headers are that cheap..

Anyone that has seen a Pacesetter, OBX or heaven forbid Weapon R... can easily see the differences in every aspect.. Not that the HS is perfect, just the best we have available. Not to mention it makes more power than the others...

okay around $300...my bad

Seen several group deals in the past for a little above $300.. HS MSRP is $399...other dealers can cut that cost a little lower.
