Before deciding on a Sentra, I read reviews for the clutch performance. "Clunky shifter, due to the cable system" was what I typically found. I bought my car used at 99,600 miles (it had one owner before myself; it was a lien). The car looked like it had been maintained nicely.
Something that struck me as a bit off was the rubber cover for the clutch pedal missing. From the beggining I noticed the pedal was indeed quite clunky (and at times just a plain nuissance to have to push in). Not always, though. But driving a pick-up truck's clutch was much smoother, comparitively. It's sticky, and "crunchy" (like stepping into 1 day old 1 foot + fresh snow...),

especially after getting off a 10 mile + freeway drive. Is this typical, do you guys think, of the model? Or could something be obstructing the cable. I haven't yet done any clutch work and am a bit nervous about doing so. Have any of you folks replaced a clutch (not for performance enhancment) in the mid 100,000 mile range?
