When exactly is the oil light supposed to kick on?
I have a leak, and I have to check my oil periodically to make sure that I'm not running too low. I've been down below 1 qt. before, and yet the oil light has never come on. Just wondering at what point is it supposed to come on?
the oil light only comes on when you have like 5 psi / minimum should normally be 20+ so when you see that it's BAD. If you only see it in hard turns it's still bad.
maybe it doesnt work? i know my gas indicator does not work ..on the letter E with the needle and the light barely comes on, then disappears
Mine does that also, I think it's just what their meant to do. If the gas gets real low, like on the line, the light will stay on and get pretty bright.

Thats right. Pretty much there is a point where it begins to come on and as you run lower on fuel it gets brighter. Ofcourse though when you are driving as the car moves around so does the fuel causing the light to fade in and out.
I have a monkey that continues the post whoring through out the night. His next stop is Pete's house where i taught him how to judo chop cracka ass thugs

The oil pressure should be from 7 - 27 at idle.
I have an oil pressure gauge along with the stock sensor and I've seen the oil pressure get as low as 5-6 PSI. This is with an engine that wasn't in great shape when hot at idle and the light never come on. My guess is that it comes on at 3 PSI or less. If this light ever comes on when driving when the pressure should be 50+, I would think the chance of engine damage would be high, even if you killed the engine right away.
