okay im posting for a friend that don't know much about cars but they drove it with one dead cylinder for a while and one day they went to start it and it sounded as if the engine had no compression yet it ran fine the day before. not sure what engine they have but i'll describe it so i can get better help for this engine
it has a double overhead cam run by a timing chain. 2 of them in the front 4 clynders.
#2 cylindar would not fire
I checked spark plug...was getting juice to cylander and was checked at distributor and it was firing, all others were firing great...but would not fire...susspected it was the fuel injector...car has 120,000 miles appx so this could happen...all of a sudden one morning when we tried to strat it the motor turned over very quickly with no compression and would not start... checked the chain, its not broken cams are moving...distrubutor turns...
by having driven it 3 months on 3 cylinders could that have caused this problem? and what is normal compression for cylinders in this engine?

It could of, if the 1 cylinder is not firing its putting more stress on the other 3. when the spark fires it pushes it down and sends the other 1 up. after 3 months it took its last breath

But do you have any idea what would cause a no fire in cylinder #2
