to be honest, upgrading your ignition really isn't necessary unless running a lot of boost.....

The ignition on the Ga is damn good...check www.sentra.net and see theres not much sense in any aftermarket ignition part for our cars...

ignition

I've been thinking about getting a MSD 6A ignition for my ga16. I know it has multiple sparks, so I was thinking I'd get an extra 5 hp from it. I already have an intake and exhaust, so it seema like it would just make the engine perform better, since its drawing in more air than stock.

personally, i'd listen to these people. they know what they are talking about. if they say you don't need an msd unless you are running a turbo set up, then you don't need one unless you are running a turbo set up.

its your money and if you really want to send it on this, no one is going to convince you otherwise, but it seems that the money would be better spent elsewhere...

I'm sure it adds some power to some degree somewhere in your powerband... although I'm running 9psi on the stock ignition.

^stylin if you wanna get an msd go ahead, but its not gonna produce 5hp let alone anything, it might smooth the power bad out like james said, but i really doubt you will gain hp... msds run what a few hundred dollars, i think you would benifit more from like in UR pulley, header, intake, even cams or something before you do the msd.. IMO

MSD ignition

OK, then if I don't gain any power, then its not worth getting, because my car does run like a sewing machine, hehe. But, when I step on the gas, the power varies, sometimes, it pulls from 1000 up to 4500, then when I'm cruising down the street or freeway, it only pulls from 4000 to 5000. I was thinking about the cams, but they only work over 4000 RPM's, that wouldn't do me much good. I usually only drive between 1k and 4k, besides, I would loose my lovely low end torque. I can't let that happen. The UR pully's I heard are dangerous to the accessories. I need to have my AC. I just had it charged yesterday and let me tell you, before I got that thing charged, I was burnin up! It was 100 degrees outside and 130 in my car, with the windows down! I really want a carb legal header assembly and performance intake manifold, but that doesn't seem like its going to happen. After that 19 second run at the drag stip, I need more power. That was embarrassing, I should be in the 17's at least.

The UR pully doesn't hurt much at all. Goto kojima's garage on sentra.net. There is a write up on a lot of different mods for the ga16 and the pully is one of em. It will tell you hp gains, affects, and give you pics.

yes it is an automatic. I think, the next time I drag race, I'm going to leave the OD off and stay out of the water. This time, I should do alot better because I have new oil and a clean air filter and new tires.
