I just ordered a valve cover gasket and i was wanting to know if there is any certain ways to put it in? I searched but really didnt find anything. I wanted to know if you have to use any type of liquid sealant along with it, or do you just remove the old gasket and put the new one in. Or do you have to put a little oil on the new one before installation. I dont know, just trying to do it right the first time. I dont want to mess it up and still have an oil leak. Thanks.
yeah thanks a lot have been looking for this i posted a while back about my valve cover and everyone thought i was just stupid i think. but i am haveing a hell of a time getting it to sea.l i think that i may have been useing too much sillicone. next time will be the 3rd try to seal it

The replacement gasket that i got is rubber and i think the old one is cork. Do i still do the same procedure or do i have to use the liquid sealant around the whole thing?

make sure you use liquid gasket of some type. I used grey RTF for imports. Permatex makes it. This is good to put around the distributor curve part. As shown on that picture above. Make sure you tighten the screws in the right number order. It will seal better. I used Locktight Blue on the screws for the cover to hold the torque better.
