clutch needs to be broken in

Ok so my clutch is finally done and im installing my short shifter kit tomorrow or the day after. I'm planning to have it this weekend at my cuzzinz and i was wondering whats the worst that could happen if i pop the clutch or push the car up to 5K rpm's. Note i just installed the clutch and theres 0 miles on it because theres a lil more to do. There will be around 170 miles on it once im at his house. So what do you guys think is the worst that can happen...Lemme know fellaz

I'm helping a friend install a new clutch, and the consensus is that you should drive easy on it for about 300 miles, 400 if you want to be safe. That should more or less break it in.

yeh i heard that u should drive on it easy for like 500 miles but i dont feel like popping my clutch and then just messing up everything. Think my clutch would just end up crap again or what will mess up if i dont drive it easy for the next 500 miles....

Yeah, 500 miles is what I've heard. I know a friend who had a stage 1 clutchmaster put in his 95 200sx ser and he started getting on it the sameday and ended up having many issues with it. It burnt up in 2 months. He says it was a defective clutch but clutchmaster tested it and wouldn't replace it cause they said it was his fault. I'd suggest going with 500 miles just to be safe and then you can rest assure that it will be ok.
