SENTRA Starting Problems

I have a 92 sentra GXE and have owned the car for one year problem free, that is until now. I first noticed something was not right when the idle started occasionaly wondering from 850rpm to 1500-2000rpm(happens at normal operating temperatures). The idle does eventualy come down on its own after anywhere from 30secondes to a couple of minutes.Along with this problem and i do not know if there related the rad fans started comming on very often. What particularly stuck me as odd is that the fans often come on and stay on just after start when the temperature guage has not even started registering(cold engine). I have been having these problems for about three weeks with no real consequence to the cars driveability until the other day when the car refused to start. The only thing that seemed to get the car started was to floor the pedal and crank. It did eventualy start but sounded very rough like it was missing on one of the cylinders. Oddly enough after a few minutes of high reving it ran fine again.Since that first time(its been about a week) i have had a few more occasions where the car wont start and it seems to be getting more frequent. So far flooring the gas pedal and cranking has seemed to work again once going it hesitates and misfires and with time smooths out. I am pretty sure this problem(s)(fan related?) is only going to get worse so if any one has an idea as to what possibly could be going i would really appreciate getting some advice. Thanks a lot.

This also sound slike an IAC valve problem. Here is a link on how to do it.http://www.nissanforums.com/showthre...ight=iac+valve
This is the valve:
(This image helps again.....lol)
Just remove the two screws, and carfully remove the valve. Clean it with carb or throttlebody cleaner, and a q-tip. If you are carful enough, you can reuse the gasket.

Damn thats one dirty engine bay! If I took my car to go do a major tune-up at the dealership, would they do this cleaning themselves or would they only do it if they thought it was necessary? Cause I have to get a tune-up soon enough, but if I can wait on it since I don't have any idle problems as of yet, then I might as well and pay the dealership to make sure everythings in working order.

the IAC might be part of the prob.. BUT the hard start and especially the Rad fan symptoms point to a CTS(coolant temp sensor) dont know for certain if thats the name Nissan uses... Fuel injected cars dont have a choke.. The only way they know how much fuel to deliver is by the coolant temperature... Depending on the system (Niss, Ford, Chevy) either a shorted or open circuit can cause the system to think its either -30degrees or 250degrees. Thus either FLOODING the engine or giving it nearly no fuel at all. (Normally thay cause a Flood and Hard start whether hot or cold). Either sensor SHOULD throw a code but on my 92 the TPS is currently unhooked and it still hasnt tossed a code. A scanner with a datastream would tell immediatly if a sensor is shot... Gotta go to a Mechanic or Dealer though... Hope this helps
