Knocking noise from engine

Ive been hearing a knocking noise lately from the engine bay when im accelerating and i was just wondering if anybody had any ideas on what it could be. It happens in all gears and is mostly at low rpms. I have an intake but it made then noise before i put it on so... any ideas. Thanks.

Haveing a knocking prob too! It seems like its right under the valve cover where the timing chains are. Is it the tentioner?? Its pretty worn... I am doing a Rod bearing job, Changing the timing chain tentioners and going through the head. Is there anyhting else inside the engine that can cause a knocking that only seems to happen when I let off the gas slightly at about 2800-3200 RPMS??????

Hows your oil level? This happened once in my car. It was valve slap due to lack of oil (Major oil leak from loose crank pulley). When I topped the oil level off, the sound went away.

I had a knocking/clacking sound coming from the timing chain area. I believe it was due to the timing chain, the upper one was eating through the lower cover. I've replaced the timing chains and the tensioners, but I haven't started the engine yet to be sure that fixed the problem.
After taking everything apart, I believe this was caused by the upper timing chain tensioner being siezed.

fuel

I think you got the wrong fuel in your engine. Sounds to me like its detonating. Put 91 octane in there. Works really good for me.

Speeking of timing chains. when I took my wifes GXE in for a recall I was talking to a tech about buying an Alti he said get the one with the V6 because they have had issues with the 4 banger's timing chain making noise. AKA. QR25's timing chains.. I said "humm really what about the specV" and he was silent....

But he did say that the trouble they are having is that the drains from the tensioner and takes a while to prime back up to put proper tension on the chain.
