I just instaled new headers in my 1.6 and that copper tube piece wont fit the new header...... What can i do.... the car seems to run fine w/o it but it just seems really loud... Right now it is running through the rest of the stock exhaust.. but i wanna add 2" pipeing and my tip....I dont wanna add the rest till i get this prob fixed...please help.
So your car is running without the EGR tube...that's a bad thing. You won't pass emissions, that's for damn sure. You should either get a new one bent, or try to gently move it to fit into the hole without breaking it.
If you are talking about the egr tube, you have to bend and reshape the tube to get it to thread into the header. It wont run good for very long with out it installed.
Plus, sorry but that is such a pet peev of mine. Its a header, not headers. Please dont take it the wrong way, it just bothers me.....lol
I would take it to a muffler shop and see if they could weld a new bung into the header, or see if they can install a new nut onto the egr tube.
Are the threads Of the egr tube nut too small, or to big? If they are to big, you can tap the bung in the header to fit the egr nut.
can i use anytype of tubing.......or does it have to be copper? the fitting on the tube is to big...and i dont really know what size i would have to shave it down to? What is the importance of the tube
dude, use whatever will hold a 1400F degree heat.. if it holds that hot exhaust gas, then thats what you want.. Flex, bended copper.. it doesnt matter..
There are 2 different EGR tubes. One from the 98-99 cars and ones from the early model federal cars that did not have a close coupled cat. Did your car have a cat built in to the factory manifold?
If you cannot make the pipe fit you really need to block off the EGR (under the throttle body) and the bung in the header. If you don;t know what your doing take it to a shop.

i can gaurentee you that he has a 98 200sx, i had the same one as mike young that has the close couple cat, i believe if you get the egr from the 95-97 fed model, it will fit right up

Did your 97 have a cat on the factory manifold? If it did buy the EGR for a 95 federal model GA16 and it should fit perfectly.
