I just blew my engine and i just got another 1 today.. my old had a Silver Valve cover but my new engine has a white valve cover.. is this white 1 the J-Spec motor.. meaning it was outta a Japan made Sentra..?
i dont believe there are any models with white value cover.. most b13's come with aluminum vc while b14's come with plastic, so you might have a b14 motor.. japanese nissan dealers mainly use red and blue for their vc's... actually the only white vc's are aftermarkets or painted

A swap engine we bought last March from a '92 XE, I think, has a white VC. Before some of the pain chipped off, from corrosion underneath, I was almost certain it was made of plastic. I've seen other GA engine pic's with white valve covers as well, although rare.
My wife's '92 XE has a white valve cover. It's had no swap, and certainly isn't JDM. (It was made right over at the Smyrna, Tennessee factory).
It looks almost like a ceramic-type coating, very smooth.

mine b13 came stock with a white valve cover (so they are not rare) and i now have a jspec ga motor in it...i believe the only way you can tell if its a jspec it has no egr equip. on the intake manifold...it hasnt been proven that the jspec has more power than the u.s. motor, but i will tell you when i put the jspec motor in...it felt alot better but i also added a light weight flywheel and new clutch.
As in "rare" I meant seeing actual pictures of them, often NF member engine pic's. Perhaps I should restate that and say you don't seem them too frequently. Most that you do see are aluminum, plastic or custom painted.

thats flywheel and clutch prolly helped a bit, plus jspec trannys have different and better gear ratios, helping it and have a better feel but hp wise, its like a 5 hp differnt.. the only time you really gain a lot from no emissions equipment is if you have a big motor or high hp motor..

So your original '93 VC was silver (more accurately bare metal)? That's strange, cuz mine (auto, not that it makes any diff.) is a white-putty color ('93) and it is a U.S. made car.

My B13 came with a White Plastic Valve Cover. I replaced it with a polished metal one. I've never seen a stock B13 with anything but the white plastic.
