My '91 XE has an intermittent hard or no start problem. It is not the fuel pump recall, as it's just been done [did not fix it]. It's also not the ECU, or the dist. [CAS], [tried known good ones]. What the car will sometimes do is start right up, run for 2 seconds, then stall right out. Just as this happens, both cooling fans cycle on and off for 1 second.

Then it will crank over and sound like it wants to start, but will not. Thinking that it might be flooded, I tried pulling the fuel pump fuse, [didn't help at all] and then stepping on the gas while cranking to see what that would do. It would intermittently pop back through the intake. This is cleary an efi problem, not bent valves or any mechanical problem, as the car will suddenly snap out of it and run perfectly. It never does this warm, only on a cold start. The only other weird thing is that when it finally does start and run normally, again both cooling fans sometimes will start and stay running for minutes at a time, even when the car is stone cold, [and with the A/C switch turned off].
Has anyone else ever had a high mileage [196-K] B13 GA do this?
