I replaced two belts on the Sentra from Advance Auto Parts with the best brand they had. It's less than a month and I am hearing lots of noise from the belt area. I hear the noise when I start the car, or put the AC on, and occasionally while the car is cruising or decelerating. It's also getting worse day by day and it's embarassing driving with that noise, especially with people nearby.
I did read other posts on this forum, but I couldn't find one for my problem. Do tight belts make noise or loose belts? I can't seem to understand the mechanics of this. Any assistance is highly appreciated because I won't be able to sleep if I need to shell-out bucks at the Nissan stealership??
It seems to have worked! I took off the alternator belt and the tensioner pulley. I then lubricated the tensioner pulley's rollers with grease as both sides were almost dry. I adjusted and tightened the tensioner...and viola! The car started without a single squeak. I then turned on the AC and no sound whatsoever. That solves the embarassing problem! I am so happy to avoid a visit to Nissan.
I kind of seem to be having that same problem and my check engine light is on. It came on after a swap a couple of days ago. and the screetching noise started the day after . It has all new belts and The noise is horrible
