Question Coolant Change, please help

I did a search and got many mixed answers. I understand the whole idea of removing the air bleed bolts and the radiator drain plug, but what about the engine block drain plug. Someone said it will mess up your engine to remove it. If I take it off, do I need to put sealant on it before putting it back in in? I bought some radiator flush so I will need to drain the whole system. Also, if you look at where the engine block drain plug is, it would spill antifreeze all of the front of your engine and on to the crossmember with not a drip getting into an actual container. Anyone have ideas how to do this with out making a gigantic antifreeze mess??

My coolant doesn't really look nasty, is the chemical radiator flush neccesary?

Thank you!

well if it's not that nasty, i'll just drain it from the radiator plug, or loosen the lower radiator hose, then refill and bleed system, then check for leaks.

don't know if you did this already but figured to post anyway. whenever i drained my block, i permetexed the bolt to make sure it wouldn't leak. and about how to keep off your crossmember, i just put a rectangle looking bucking and sat it on the crossmember. hope this helps.
