I have a problem with my ga16de cutting out when I have my air conditioner on and I take it out of gear (while it is moving). The problem usually occurs when I am driving at about 40 mph in third gear and I need to stop at a light. I shift out of gear to slow down and all of a sudden the engine just cuts off power. The engine regains power if I down shift into gear again but I don't think that it is good for my engine. All of this only happens when my air conditioner is on. I cleaned that black valve thing on the throttle body (I saw it in another post) but that didn't help. Any suggestions?
Hmm, I have the same problem in my '96 GXE with the same engine. Do you by any chance happen to have an oil leak? I had one fixed once before and my engine ran fine afterwards. Then I got a new oil leak and the problem started up all over again. My simple solution... I just turn the a/c off when approaching a light. Not very convenient, I know.
I have had this problem also, but it's not limited to when the AC is on. It doesn't make it worse at all though. When coming to a light and taking it out of gear the RPMs drop and it seems as if it tries to level out the RPMs at the idle speed too late and it drops down too far and sputters for a second and then idles out and idles fine. I haven't noticed an oil leak in my case, though.
ive had that problem too...one of my intake hoses wasnt going into my intake manifold- it came off...and i had a dirty ass air filter...but it happened even witht the ac off...the ac prolly only makes it more evident beause it drains the engine even MORE...
