a wearing clutch should engage higher from the floor, have more play in the pedal when engaging (i.e. you dont feel the engagement point as precisely as you used to), at higher rpms it feels like you are losing power, gear grinding when shifting

mine engaged fine when it was fried. i noticed it b/c when i would accelerate hard the car would rev shy high quickly as if the clutch was disengaged only the car wouldnt go anywhere. it did fine if i took off easy though
Test: go about 30-35mph, put it in 5th and floor it. If the revs rise then your clutch is shot. If the car bogs and accelerates really slows then it is fine for now.
alright thanks a lot for the tips...just wondering because sometimes say i'm in 5th and i put it in neutral coming to a light...the tach drops to only like 1300 sometimes for a second before dropping to the normal 6-700 idle...is this a possible clutch problem or something comlpetely different?

That sounds normal, you don't want the rpms to dive too quick, it'll kill the engine.

My clutch is aging but by no means dead and my car acts the same way. As far as I know it is unrelated because everytime I do a tune-up item the drop down to rpm gets lower and lower. To the point I hardly notice it anymore.

That has absolutely nothing to do with the clutch. Replacing my clutch pretty much put me in the poor house so consider yourself lucky. Thats probably nothing to worry about, but if it takes longer than a second or 2 (ie doesnt drop to normal until you stop) then you might have a problem with the IACV/air regulator.

Yea exactly where my clutch is at right now. I can drive fine if I do a normal take off. But if i try to rev up the engine and drop the clutch I go nowhere, but my revs keep climbing lol. it sounds cool as the intake is sucking up all the air it can handle but you look like an ass when you arent going anywhere.
Anyway I think im gonna get a new clutch soon. Is all that is needed included in clutch kits?? Im probably gonna wanna get one that will be able to withstand boost. because pretty soon ill start saving for the hotshot kit.
or if the rpms hang up for longer than a couple seconds it could be a vaccum leak. i have a vaccum leak on my tb but once the car warms up it idles at 700
