(1)My condensor fan motor needs to be replaced, how hard is it to replace it? Anything special I have to do?
(2)The past few days my temperature gague has been acting wierd. Anytime I give the engine gas, the temp. gague dips down. The more throttle I apply, the farther down that gague needle goes down.
A friend of mine said to try checking the temperature sender unit. He doesn't know where it is on my car exactly, but he said it should be high up on the head. I need a more specific location that that, if someone wouldn't mind telling me (or even posting a pic would be GREAT). How hard is it to fix that if it is the problem? Is that the proper term? I need to know to be able to buy the new part.
TIA!

question #1 ,the condesor fan comes out in 2 seconds, its 2 10mm bolts on top holding it and 1 plug on motor, and just pull it up.
question #2 , thats the tip of the coolant temp sensor it usualy cracks and then causes that because the signal comes in/and out, its a cheap sensor and is right under the dist./ign. coil right on the cylinder head.

(1)Yeah, removing the fan is probably the easiest thing to do on our car. I just wasn't sure about the motor itself.
(2)What causes this to crack? Stress from getting hot then cold?
Thanks for the help!

I guess your talking about the radiator fan... not to bad to change.
As far as your other problem... How far does it move? How fast does it fluctuate?

Ya it's a radiator fan, but this one is for the condensor.
As far as the speed, it depends on how much throttle I give it. If I barely give it any gas, I get very little movement. If I go full throttle, the gague slams against the peg. The movement always shows the temp. dropping. BTW, it does this in and out of gear. No matter how fast I am going.

Well I just replaced the fan motor. It was much easier that I had expected. It hasn't seemed to fix the A/C problem like my mechanic and I were hoping it would, but it did fix the temp. gague problem. Atleast the gague wasn't going nuts sor the short drive I took it on.

Wow!, sounds like you may have a short... doesn't sound like any coolant temp sensor problem I've ever seen. Could be shorted to tach signal???? or your gauge voltage reference has gone nuts.

No, that is what I meant about the temp sensor(unit as you put it)... that is definately not the problem!

Well along the lines of a short, it wouldn't completely surprise me. back when those washer nozzle lights first came out I put them on my car, and I think something got shorted out, which killed one of the lights and caused me to go through two alternators in a few weeks. Thank goodness for warranties. I wonder if those couldn't be somehow related. Any thoughts on this?

Well the gague is acting wierd again. Now it only does it from 3500 RPM onward now that I have the new fan motor in. I'm guessign it is a short, but I have no idea where to start looking for it. Anyone got an idea?
