Power loss/slow acceleration

I am a newbie. Dont know a heck of a lot about engines. I have a 96 sentra which is slower than it used to be accelerating. I cleaned the air filter, replaced spark plugs, new spark plug wires, new distributer. However, when I replaced the fuel filter, it was full of dark disgusting gas. Previous owner must not have changed it often (or ever). Do you think my injectors could be clogged? If so, what should I do?

What else do you think I should check into?

injectors might be clogged/dirty...usually i use STP fuel treatment and that works for me...also check your throttle cable, it might be loose

Sea Foam!!!
at first I didnt believe that this stuff was that good, but DAMN!!! That stuff is the shiznit. It smoothed out my idle bigtime!!! I poured some in my tranny as well, and it shifts better too. good to get rid of varnish on internals of engine.

sea foam

comes in a red&white can. I have had good luck with finding it at carquest and Advance Auto. They also make a product specifically for transmissions called Trans Tune.

if the power loss is very pronounced, and the above suggestions don't help, and your car ultimately dies...your fuel pump could be going.
