ok my spark plugs have a white flaky deposit all over them, i was under the impression my car was running a little rich so this really confuses me. my timing is advanced but no pinging or detonation that i can tell, also the car is not overheating. they are really cheap spark plugs (bosch chepo's i think they have a copper electrode, i know i know), but i thought i'd ask your opinions on what could be going on, plus just so you know my car has been lacking power, so im really concerned. i will be doing a tune up in a couple of weeks, and replacing with ngk's, i just want to make sure nothing else may be gonig on, and if you guys think there is what it may be.

white means it lean. it could be that they gave you the wrong heat range of plug as well. my car ran a little leaner when advance gave me a colder plug
are the plugs gapped right? boschs anyway suck in our cars. go with ngk and ngk only. your car has been running lean, so id say go a step colder in plug heat ranges.
do you think ngk's for the ser would be good then?

if your talking about the ngk platinums, then yes. i run them in my car and they are very responsive. they are the NGK PFR6B-11s that i got from courtesy nissan.

ok thanks, that should be the same part number for my local dealer right? this car has been running like shit the last couple of weeks, i pulled the plugs again and the gap looks way to wide. unfortunatly i dont have any feeler gaudges to gap them.

from what i remember, with mods, the SE-R stock plugs, have 1 step colder from our cars, so they would be better.. unless i forgot what was said about it.
the GA doesnt come with platinums stock, they are the normal ngk copper plugs bkr5e-11. the stock SR20 plugs are usually platinum (pfr5b-11), some came with ngk copper plugs (bkr6e) as well. you could use the pfr5b-11, but i chose to get one step colder (pfr6b-11) because im running advanced timing. hope this clears it up.
MY two cents i had ngk plat's in my 96 gxe and they ran like shit gap was fine timing was right on so on my next tune-up i went with all bosch wires cap rotor and platinum+4's and they ran 10 times better, mixture was right on the money more responsive acceleration better all the way around. Not that my oppinion matters just wanted to add my info. Best of luck

I'm using them on my GA for about 9 months by now and they work perfect... no missfires no emmisions problems, no crap around them and they still looks like never been used.... Best spark plugs i'be ever buyed.
I think the general consensus is that the NGK's are the way to go for the GA. I've done a little research myself, and Kojima's Garage happens to have a little section on Spark Plugs that is really helpful, if you'd want to check that out. I think in this case, going with the stock brand is actually the best idea - I'm going to get the NGK platinums in a few weeks.

Technically the Iridium's will last longer than the platinum ones... stronger material. Costs about the same.
