for one it isnt the power steering pulley. it is your water pump pulley. there should be four small bolts holding it on. it the bolts are loose just get a 10mm wrench and tighten them up and make sure it is fully seated. if some of the bolts are missing you will have to find the right ones to replace them and again make sure the holes are lined up and that the pulley is seated all the way on. Its not that big a deal. its an easy fix. maybee a couple of minutes. anyways i hope this helps

You need to replace the water pump. The slop in it is the bearing. You must replace it. You will throw the belt eventually if you leave it and it will start leaking coolant. DO asap.
Anybody got a water pump for a 1.6 they wanna sell me?
s
Just found out a new water pump is $60 plus shipping & tax. $80 shipped overnight plus tax.
I may just have to go that route because I got a trip planned next weekend. Damn! I hate being pressured when fixing my car.

It helps if you have small girl-like hands because everything is so tight in there. I had to remove a couple of items to gain access and it was well worth it. Also, Nissan dosen't provide a gasket, so you have to have a tube of silicone. Should take 1-2 hrs.
Seth, I just did mine during my swap, as it was leaking. It is a royal PITA. Not much room to get in there. You don't HAVE to remove the PS pump, but it helps greatly. The AC most definely stays, and is not in the way. You remove and reinstall the pump from underneath, no need to remove the PS reservoir.
Loosen All your belts, and remove the crank pulley. Then remove the wp pulley, and PS pump. You will likely have to CUT off the 3 hoses that are on the pump and thermostat housing, as they will NOT want to come off easily. Unplug your thermo sensor on the thermostat housing. Then remove all the bolts, keeping track of where they go , unless you have a FSM (As it lists which length bolts go where) . I recommend replacing the thermostat while you have it out, plus hoses would be a good idea too. Then separate the wp and the thermo housing and install the housing onto the new pump. Make sure to use RTV, as no gaskets are provided. Then reinstall.
Good Luck!

Thanks John!
Good to see you on the boards this morning. Just in time too cuz I was about to start pulling parts. I would have made things difficult by going in from the top eh.
Much obliged.
Things are not going as planned.
I can’t seem to be able to loosen the PS/WP belt. The dang thing wont budge. I’m sure I just forgot to do something but what was it?
Even if I get he PS/WP belt off then what? I can remove the PS unit I guess.
It’s raining now so I had to take a break.
I’ll be back at it in a few.
Did you loosen the bottom "pivot" bolt on the bottom of the pump? Do you have the tensioner loose?
