ignition timing + A/F ratio

i have a GA16DS ( carbed version ) so I can set up the A/F ratio and the timing....

now after a complete carb reneval I have to find the optimum.
I did it this way: first i set the A/F ratio to lean as possible (so that the engine still idles smoth) then I advanced the timing to find the best power ( cca. 6° )...
now my question: will the engine give more power with a richer A/F ratio and more advanced timing??

I can advance the timing far more and the engine will not ping when set to rich.
