K&H Air Filter

I just bought a used black '97 nissan sentra gxe, and was thinking about putting in a k&h air filter. Who has done this and what kind of performace/ gas mialage gains did you get. Also, what should I expect to pay for one of those?

The K&N drop-in filter will give you a bit more gas milage and about 1-2 HP gain if that. Expect to pay about $45 for one...

so the cone gives less gas mialage increase but more power? i read that the filter could give you 10-15hp.

The most I've ever heard of a cone filter giving to our cars was like 5HP and that's a $200+ JWT pop charger and it's the fitting that gives you that, not the filter itself. I'd just go to eBay and buy a cheap cone filter and MAF adapter for ~$20 shipped. Or if you really want the K&N then go buy any old K&N cone filter and get a MAF adapter to bolt it on. That'll run you about $55-$65 total.

I'm confused, i went to carreview.com and found reviews on these filters, and people gave them great reviews, said it was the best bang for the buck they ever got for their car.

They are good, but you're not going to get 10-15 hp gains from one, that's all. I had a K&N drop in filter in my Z26 and never felt any difference. It really depends on the car, some respond great to them, some don't change much.

I had a drop in K&N on my old 93 XE and could not tell any difference. My SE-R has a pop charger but it was on the car when I bought it so I dont know if it made any difference. Going from an XE to an SE-R was good enough.

the first thing i did with my car was the cheapo adaptor and a matrix cone, and all i noticed is that it made the car alot louder, and there was very minimal milage difference.
when i put in my k&n drop-in i felft that my car was just a little more easy to rev, but the only thing i really did notice is that my milege went up 5-10 mpg.
Then when i put on my jwt pop (it comes with a huge k&n cone) my milage stayed about the same as the drop in, and according to my but dyno the car revs alot easier and pulls a little harder, plus it make a really cool sound at WOT.
... and its a whole other story with my stromung ...

Or you could just go the cold air intake rought. Hot shot, Injen, few other places. Or you can make a custom one, like it did. Down below in my sig there is a link on how to make your own cold air intake.
