Stalling Out Issue
Hey guys, I tired searching for my specific problem and found a few that could be the cause, but I figured if i specified my exact problem you guys might be able to pin point what it could be.
Well last saturday I had my starter replaced after a good old 160,000 miles of running with the stock one, before then a month ago I had replaced the 60 amp Bosh alternator with a 150amp Mechanical Man to run all my audio and accessories without problems. Well my car ran fine last night as I went to pick up some dinner. However, when I got into the car this afternoon to start it up it ran fine, so I pushed it out from Park to Drive (automatic tranny) and left my complex and headed off to the main road. As I began to drive I pushed down on the gas and the car started to stutter. So I turned it back around and I noticed my aftermarket voltage gauge began reading voltages from 14.5 volts (normal for me) to 11.5 volts. As I was driving back to the complex I noticed when I tried to go WOT that it would hold its self back then just push a surge of power a second or two later.
So I pull into the parking space and the car is having problems ideling and eventually stalls out. So i start it back up again and leaving it on for a good 2 minutes I could then smell gasoline. So I look though the engine bay and everything seems to be alright (no lose connections for wiring), so I leave the car and return about 4 hours later and I start it up again and again it runs rough and then I decide to test drive it out again. This time when I headed out onto the road it never missed and ran fine, although when ever I hit the breaks and dropped RPM's the voltage dropped a good 2 volts, so I came back home and again the car was hesitating like it was going to stall but it kept sounding like it was bouncing up and down though the RPM range to keep the car alive.
The car is a 1994 Sentra XE (GA16DE Engine) with a cat-back exhaust. The car has a good 161,000 miles and I had just gotten the starter and oil change less than 150 miles ago. I also filled up the gas tank on monday with regular 87 octane.
I hope this helps, I also hope that I can figure out whats wrong with my baby. Maybe its time to begin shopping for a 91-94 Sentra SE-R... who knows, but for now I need her to run once again. Thanks guy!
