Car idles loudly? Help please!

I just got this used engine put into my car and after a about a month and a half the engine started to idle louder in bad way.

The noise is coming from the vicinity where the alternator is. The sound sounds electronic like engine background noise like background static coming from the radio. When you rev the motor the low electronic humming sound gets louder with the engine.

I'm pretty sure it's not my alterntor, but not very sure. I think the problem is coming from the vale train somewhere. My dad thinks it's a water pump seal or something.

The engine has warranty so we are getting it fixed for free. They will probably figure out the problem, but I would really like to know before it's fixed just to know. I'm pretty sure it's my valve train, but still not sure.

Any help would be great guys and girls, Thanks!

I think this is asked at least once a week. One probable cause could be timing chain, tensioner and guides failing. Or, like you said, it could be the water pump.

Timing Chain
Water Pump

Hope that helps!

i agree with 95 SentraB13. most of the time its the timing belt and either it needs to replaced or tightened. i had the same problems earlier and the belt was the issue.

if you describe it as an electronic noise you very well could have a bad/weak ground on your alternator or badly shielded wiring.

sounds like a timing component to me I had the same prob. It was because my tensioner bolts had backed out and it was just hanging the rattling around!
