1994 sentra xe - surged, died, wont start

Hi everyone, im glad i came across this site. Yesterday, i was on my way to work on the Alaska highway, when i lost power. I pulled over but it started surging and eventually stopped. i did start it again breifly, but ended up towing it home. It was very icy and all the locks and knobs and doors were hard to open when i started it that morning. I made it about 80 miles when it died. What i first noticed was the upper rad hose was barely warm, so i risked popping the rad cap AND no pressure. it never spit rad fluid out at me. After 80 miles? Now what i find interesting is that i sprayed my engine 2 months ago, and as i was driving home it started surging and died that day. That time and yesterday the temperature outside was just above freezing. Fuel pump was changed 2 years ago, im hoping its not that. it did start this morning perfectly, but it only ran for about 1 minute and then died again. I could sure use some help if anyone has any suggestions. im thinking something electrical iis getting wet, but the cap is dry, plugs are new also. thanks in advance

1) Alternator?
2) gas/fuel?
3) TPS? Missing air?

Do these check up first and let me know what you find.
Does it die out with all check lights on?

This sometimes happens when there is water on the plugs and wires. If any moisture gets into the boot it will cause the car to surge.
